Disaster Action Team Responses

On Tuesday, April 15, 4 families had a fire in their apartment in Hillsboro. When the Red Cross disaster volunteers arrived, they assisted 8 adults and 12 children affected by the fire with:

–3 nights in a nearby motel.
–A client assistance card to shop for food and clothing.
–Comfort kits containing shampoo, soap, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, and razor for
the adults.
–Comfort kits containing shampoo, soap, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, crayons and
coloring books for the children.
–Stuffed animals to comfort the children.

The same day, a family in Forest Grove had a fire that destroyed their mobile home. A disaster volunteer assisted the family of 5 adults and 2 children with:

–2 nights in a nearby motel.
–A client assistance card to shop for food and clothing.
–Comfort kits for adults and children.
–Stuffed animals to comfort the children.
