Blood Services is a little nervous about the projected cold snap that’s expected to arrive this weekend. Just one day of funky weather can create a deficit in our collections.

We collect about 5,000 units of blood, and 700 units of platelets each week. We’ve asked everyone who has an existing appointment to do everything possible to keep it.

If this really turns out to be a weather event we will certainly blog about it and post the status of the blood supply on our site .
