With a holiday weekend ahead, I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking about BBQs and boating and all the other fun things that come with an Oregon summer. That said, the forecast is looking a little dour.

If I were in, say, Texas, it would be close to 100 degrees out and this little safety reminder would be a lot more effective. For all of our sake, just stash these tidbits away for July and August when it’s crazy hot around here.

• Consider taking the water safety quiz.
• Read up on water safety tips, including pool and boating safety.
• Find answers to safety and aquatics questions or submit your own.
• Take a swimming class or get trained as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross. You can see what’s offered locally and where right here.
