Support Pride, Give Blood

Instead of just enjoying parades and parties during Pride Week, why not do something important? Saving a life, perhaps?

Tomorrow — June 17 — is a very special blood drive, organized in memory of Brittany Cassidy, Ms. Jr. Gay Pride II Nibblet V. Nightengale (pictured on left). Here are the deets:

Tuesday, June 17
2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Q Center, 69 SW Taylor
Contact Theresa Kidner at 503-935-3487

Nibblet passed away in April, 2008 at the tender age of 18, after a battle with cystic fibrosis. The prior June, Nibblet competed in and won Ms. Jr. Gay Pride II, with a platform of reaching out to LGBTQ youth and letting them know that they can and should be proud of who they are..

As part of the competition, Nibblet had to organize a benefit for the charity of her choice. She picked the American Red Cross, sponsoring a blood drive in order to ensure an adequate amount of blood for our local hospitals.

While not everyone is eligible to give blood (due to FDA regulations), those who can, should, and those who can’t should volunteer or recruit another blood donor. Help support Nibblet’s legacy — give blood tomorrow!
