This weekend, apart from being busy with Ike, the Oregon Trail Chapter will be celebrating patriotic holidays, better known as “Fiestas Patrias.”
We’re all headed out to Hillsboro Stadium to take the preparedness message to the public and, more importantly, ask residents what kind of training/classes/information they’d like to receive from their local Red Cross. Would babysitting courses be helpful? Have they made a family disaster plan? And what days, times and locations work best with their schedules?
The bottom line is that we don’t want to rush into any community without doing our homework and knowing what people want. Attending Fiestas Patrias gives us exactly that opportunity.
If you’d like to come out and join us, here’s the info:
Sept. 13 & 14
Hillsboro Stadium (part of the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex)
4400 NW 229th Avenue
Not sure of the time, but I know we’re there from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Come say hi!
