Disaster Action Team Responses
A family in Tigard had a single family fire on Nov. 18. When the Red Cross volunteers arrived, they found the family does have Insurance, but could not contact the agent until this morning. The family had a place to stay last night, but did need assistance. The Red Cross Volunteers helped the family of 5 with:
–A client assistance card to shop for food.
–Comfort Kits for the adults containing a razor, shampoo, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste,
Kleenex and washcloth.
–Comfort Kits for the children containing, shampoo, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, Kleenex,
washcloth, crayons and a coloring book.
–Stuffed animals to comfort the children.
One of the Red Cross Volunteers that went out speaks Spanish, and the family was grateful for clarification of Red Cross assistance in their native language.
