After yesterday’s snippet of a reporter in a wind tunnel, I thought you might like this video of the ribbon cutting for a tsunami-creating wave machine that’s located right here in Oregon. Largest one outside of Disneyland, in fact.

According to this article, the $1.3 machine will help study the impact of hurricanes and tsunamis on coastal structures. The aim, according to civil engineering professor Daniel Cox, is to learn how to better design bridges, levees and buildings along the coast.There are opportunities for public tours of the laboratory; click here for more info.
