A Small Confession
I love my job. But, quite honestly, I’m not 100% crazy about doing TV interviews.
There’s something about knowing that I’m going to be seen in the homes of hundreds — if not thousands — of Oregonians that makes me a little tense. Am I going to say “um” and “uh” and “like” too much? Will I get those pesky “key messages” right? And, most important, are my hair and makeup okay? It can all be a little too much for a girl to take.
Sure, I’ve been through media training. I’ve done taped interviews and live interviews. And I’ve got the ultra-saccharine, elementary school teacher voice down pat. But I’m still not a fan.
The good thing is that the more you do it, the easier it becomes. And starting this weekend, you’re going to get a full-frontal assault (which sounds awful, I know) of me on your television.
With housefires and emergency warming centers and other winter weather concerns, I’ll start popping up on your screen with some regularity.
I only ask one favor — please don’t judge me too harshly. And if my hair’s a mess, keep it to yourself!
