For today’s CPR video, we’re keeping things short and sweet with the classic stylings of Homer J. Simpson.

The funny thing about this video is that it highlights two things that the Red Cross is all about — CPR training AND disaster response. In fact, I’ve talked about the relevance of “Bad Moon Rising” on the blog before.

The not-so-funny thing about this video is that Homer might have many skills, but CPR isn’t one of them. As he says in the episode, Papa’s Got A Brand New Badge, “I’ve had a lot of jobs in my life: boxer, mascot, astronaut, baby proofer, imitation Krusty, truck driver, hippie, plow driver, food critic, conceptual artist, grease salesman, carny, mayor, grifter, body guard for the mayor, country western manager, garbage commissioner, mountain climber, farmer, inventor, Smithers, Poochie, celebrity assistant, power plant worker, fortune cookie writer, beer baron, Kwik-E-Mart clerk, homophobe, and missionary, but protecting people, that gives me the best feeling of all.”

Uh, Homer? One of the best ways to protect others is to know CPR yourself. D’oh!
