I don’t know about you, but I definitely have earthquakes on the brain these days…
- Powerful earthquakes have recently struck Haiti, Chili, and now Baja California, Mexico
- April is Earthquake and Tsunami Awareness Month in Oregon
- I just happen to be studying for the California Seismic Principles Exam to be held on April 17 (wish me luck!)
As an Emergency Preparedness Specialist, I can’t help but to think about “the big one” that is predicted to strike the Pacific Northwest, and how we all can be better prepared. I’m pretty sure the folks at City Hall are thinking the same thing, because this morning, Mayor Sam Adams announced a new tool available on the City’s Public Alerts website: Emergency Notification. Just sign up for the alerts, and when an earthquake or other significant event occurs, you will receive an emergency alert from the City via email, phone call, text message, or twitter. Pretty cool.
