Have You Ever Seen A Pet-A-Kin?
If your pet suddenly stopped breathing or broke a bone, would you know what to do?
When it comes to saving lives here at the Red Cross, we care just as much about pets as we do people. That’s why I’m so excited to build on last week’s DoveLewis partnership news with another pet-friendly opportunity for Oregonians…dog and cat first aid classes with the Oregon Humane Society!
While these classes have been offered before, our adorable pet-a-kins don’t typically venture out of our N. Portland headquarters. This time, however, we’re letting them off-leash at OHS’ Manners Hall in NE Portland.
As you can imagine, pet first aid is not the same as human first aid. In this class, you’ll find out how to perform rescue breathing, treat shock, respond to choking, stop bleeding, care for a suspected fracture and handle other sudden illnesses including poisoning.
