Tornado Warning In Kansas: My Mom Is Prepared

My mom just called me from Kansas to say that they’re under a tornado warning.  She said, “I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn’t worry. We’re down in the basement, and we’ve got plenty of food, water, supplies and playing cards to keep us occupied. And we registered on that site.” (By “that site” she meant www.safeandwell.org.)

I thanked her for the heads up and let her know if things get bad and communication lines are affected that:
2. She can call 1-800-RedCross to update her “safe and well” status if she can’t get to a computer.
It’s good to know that I’ve taught my family something about preparedness, and that it’s at the top of their minds.
Thanks for calling, Mom! Hunker down, stay safe, and enjoy your card game.
UPDATE: Mom called again. “It’s only a Watch now, but we’re still gonna stay in the basement because we’re in the middle of a Canasta game.”  *Whew!*
